Trimester Projects

Each student is expected to complete a small arts-related project that is not a part of our regular band curriculum (Sorry, playing in your own concert or parade doesn’t count!).  This is to encourage students to become more involved in music and the arts outside of the band classroom, so they may become life-long patrons of the arts.

Forms to submit many of the Trimester Projects are available HERE.

Housel Middle School Trimester Projects will be due Wed 2/25/26 and Wed 5/25/26.

Prosser High School Trimester Projects will be due 11/16/26, Wed 2/25/26, and Wed 5/25/26

Some suggested project ideas:

  • Attend a concert or other arts event and write a report/review (Prosser High School, other schools, CBC, Yakima Symphony, etc...)

  • Participate in Solo-Ensemble Festival held in March (tentative).

  • Take weekly private lessons on any instrument (preferably your band instrument).

  • Tutor a younger band student (prior approval required)

  • Write a musical composition to be performed for the class.

  • Audition for All-State or All-Northwest Band/Orchestra

  • Review a movie, musical, recording, radio station, etc.--There are specific requirements for this, so check with Mr. Norris first!

  • Participate in an outside musical group (church choir, youth symphony, Honor Band, Jazz Band,  etc…)

  • Create an idea of your own--check it first with Mr. Norris, but it will probably be fine.

Upcoming Trimester Project Opportunities:

Some events are listed HERE: Community Arts Calendar

(Anything you did since the end of the previous term--June 14th for 1st Trimester may be counted)

Livestream Concerts (Must be a continuous concert at least 45 minutes long. A music video or two off of youtube does not meet the goal! Ask first if you're not sure!)
