Housel Middle School's 52 Beginning Band Students took part in the 43rd annual Lower Valley Beginning Band Festival on Monday, May 4th at Toppenish Middle School. Students worked throughout the afternoon alongside about 200 students from 7 schools and then performed an evening concert. Ted Brown Music sponsored the event, bringing out guest conductor John Wetherington from the Tacoma area to work with the students. Mr. Wetherington taught band for 33 years in the Bethel School District and continues working as a student teaching supervisor for CWU and directs the Tacoma Youth Philharmonic Winds and the South Sound Symphonic Band. A huge thanks goes to HMS Band Director Dan Norris for continuing to pursue this opportunity for our students. We are so proud of all of you!
