Prosser School District students at the National History Day Competition.

Regional National History Day result information from Mr. Smith:

On March 11th, Housel Middle School took 41 students, and Prosser High School’s W.O.O.S.H. brought four veteran students to the National History Day Regionals competition at West Valley Middle School. We loaded the bus at 5:50 AM for a long day of exploring History through original performances, documentaries, papers, and exhibits.   After dinner at Miners, the bus got home at about 8 PM. All of our kids demonstrated wonderful spirit and participation throughout the day. Prosser also rocked it.

For the Junior Division, In Individual Documentary, Isaac Hernandez took 4th, Dalante Torrico took 3rd, and Violet Schwab took 1st place.  Prosser swept the Individual Performance category with 4th place going to Zachary Wyckoff, 3rd Place to Baylee Thornock, 2nd place to Jimmy Park, and 1st place to Madison Smith.  In Group Documentary, 3rd place went to Enoch Akinbade and Atharva Gupta while 1st place went to Molly Peters and Iris Slonecker. In Group Performance, 2nd Place went to Ezri Roy and Olivia Smasne and 1st place went to Sydney Belisle and Allison Hartliep.  Housel has 15 students who have qualified for State. We are proud of the efforts and outcome on the day.  As always, Prosser rose to the top and led the valley.

State National History Day is scheduled for Saturday April 22nd at Lake Washington High School in  Kirkland.

Special Thanks to Kevin Greager and Jamie Smasne for helping out.  It was a long day, but a lot of fun!
