- What is a computer virus?
- A virus is often a program designed to destroy or damage
information on computers. Some viruses cause no damage, but a many are
designed to damage data.
- How does a computer get a virus?
- Sources of viruses include e-mail, shared floppy disks or
CDs, and information downloaded from the Internet.
- How do I protect my computer from a virus?
- Use an anti-virus program and update it often.
(Computers on the Prosser School District network are protected by an
anti-virus program.)
- Use EXTREME caution when opening e-mail
attachments. Never open an attachment unless it is expected even if it
is from someone you know.
