Foreign Language
Department
On Friday, March 2, Mrs. Marx and Mrs. Newhouse will be taking
approximately 50 French and Spanish students to the fourth annual World
Language Day held on the campus of the University of Washington.
The
day will start with a welcome address by the president of the University.
Following this, the students will have the opportunity to attend
four different class sessions on campus.
Some of these classes are special presentations that will be given
only on World Language Day These
presentations range from Arabic Mini-Lessons, to Finnish, to German music,
Videos, to Hispanic Dance, to Swahili Mini-Lessons, to name but a few of
the many possibilities. In
addition, students will have the opportunity to tour the UW campus, to
have their voice analyzed in the UW Phonetics Lab, or to be a guest in a
real university language, history, art, classics, literature or religion
class. (The UW teaches 29 different languages!)
The students will
leave the PHS campus at 4 a.m. and
return around 7:30 p.m. It
will be a busy but very exciting day for the Foreign Language Department.
