Welcome to Mrs. Childers’ Website
Alphabet WorkWe are continuing to work on the alphabet. Many of the students are moving beyond
this point now. It is still important
to revisit the alphabet and practice.
If your child has not learned the letter name and sounds by now they
need to practice, practice, practice! Hopefully we will have these mastered soon. If you have your alphabet learned then
work on the word worm. Please do not
let them sound these out. These are
the words they should know by sight.
The more of these they have learned and can say instantly by lst grade
the more successful they will be. |

Math
We
have been working on patterning, writing and recognizing numbers to 20, and
ordinals. They should also know their
basic shapes.

ARReading begins! Students begin reading AR books when they have a bank of 25 known sight words. These books usually checked out of the classroom for kindergarten, but may also be checked out of the library. You may help your child work on new or unknown words before they start to read the book. AR is a choice in kindergarten and is not
required. Do not put pressure on your
child to feel they need to do this activity. A test is given to the child when they return with
the book. If we are short on time
they will have to wait for another day to take the test. |
