ODE TO KATHY

June 2006

By

Bob Henninger

Kathy we reckon it was your idea

These mining seminars

Ya bring teachers from all over the place

In planes and trains and cars.

Add Sally to the executive team

She’s tough but what the heck

And we’ll make ‘em sign a waiver

As we give them a check.

We can teach ‘em about the silver mines

Who struggled with dirty faces

Throw in a forest fire or two

And some girls down at the Oasis.

Take ‘em to the railroad museum

And bingo at the Elks for something to do.

Go on a bus ride to the old museum

Pig out at the Barbeque!

Sure, we’ll go to the mining museum

Down a shaft, now that ought to fill ‘em.

Go on up to Polaski Park

On a hike that will damn near kill ‘em.

We’re now hankerin’ to head on home,

Hope we weren’t an unruly mob

But speakin’ for myself and the other seminarians

Kathy, you did one heck of a job.

ODE TO SALLY

June 2006

By

There was a little Sally from Lewiston

A NezPerce connoisseur

An expert on history they say

Like wine, beer, and assorted liqueurs

Sally, you are a ball of fire

A stick of dynamite

Even though you’ve gone to the dark side

We all know you’re all right

You’re the diligent counter on the bus

You’re organized and lead the cheers

You lead us on a hike up the canyon

And after bought us beers

I hope the ones who cone after us

We, the strong, the brave, the few

Will see your value to the team

For Sally, we sure appreciate you.
