7th Grade U.S. History Course Description: Students in United States History will study the development of the United States from the British Colonial period through the Civil War and Reconstruction. Specific attention will be paid cultural encounters and the development of the Federal government. 1.) Native Americans: Pre-Columbian North American and European colonization. 2.) European Colonization: British Dominion, French and Indian War 3.) Revolution: Causes the American Revolution, War, Articles of Confederation 4.) Federal Government: US Constitution, Bill of Rights, Supreme Court 5.) New Nation: International Intrigue, Political Parties, Danger on the High Seas 6.) Expansion: Louisiana Purchase, Monroe Doctrine, Manifest Destiny, Texas and the Mexican American War, Gold in California and the Oregon Trail Length: Year |
